Notice of Proposed Zoning By-law Amendment

Removal of Holding Zone (By-law No. 2026-2078)

The Municipality of Callander is planning to pass a zoning by-law amendment at a Council meeting.

  • Date: May 12, 2026
  • Time: 6:30 p.m.
  • Location: Municipal Office, 280 Main Street North, Callander

What is being proposed?

Council is looking to remove a “holding zone” from several lots in the Beau Valley Subdivision.

A holding zone is a temporary restriction that prevents development until certain conditions are met. Removing it allows development to move forward.

What does this mean?

If approved, the change will:

  • Allow the affected lots to be developed
  • Permit residential and certain professional uses, as already allowed under the Recreational Residential Exception Four (RR-4) zoning

Which properties are affected?

The amendment applies to the following lots on Plan M-443:

  • Lots 2–5, 7–8, 10, 12, 14, and 16–24

Some nearby lots (6, 9, 11, 13, and 15) have already had the holding zone removed in previous by-laws.

Summary

This amendment is a housekeeping step to remove remaining restrictions so that development can proceed on these lots in accordance with existing zoning rules.
