Flood Outlook Notice

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has issued a Watershed Conditions Statement – Flood Outlook for parts of the North Bay District. This notice is in effect until Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 4:00 p.m.

What this means

Spring snowmelt is still happening in some northern areas, and water levels in rivers, lakes, creeks, and streams remain high in certain locations. While widespread flooding is not expected at this time, low‑lying and flood‑prone areas could still be affected.

What residents should do

  • Be cautious around rivers, lakes, creeks, and streams
  • Keep children and pets well away from water
  • Avoid slippery or unstable shorelines and riverbanks
  • Monitor local conditions, especially if you live in a low‑lying area or near water

Cold, fast‑moving water and unstable banks can be dangerous.

Current conditions

  • Water levels in southern and central areas are stable or slowly declining
  • Northern areas still have higher‑than‑normal water levels due to snowmelt
  • Some areas have saturated ground, meaning water may not drain well
  • The MNRF continues to monitor weather and watershed conditions

Weather outlook

  • Cooler temperatures expected
  • Little rainfall forecast over the next several days
  • Conditions may change quickly, so staying informed is important

Further updates will be shared if conditions change.
