Backyard Hen By-law Applications Open

Starting December 1, 2025, the Backyard Hens By-Law will take effect. Callander residents can now apply to keep up to 4 hens in their backyard under a 2-year pilot program.

Key Points:

Only 10 licences available

$100 application fee

No roosters

Not available for multi-unit dwellings

Must follow coop size, location, and cleanliness rules

No selling or slaughtering allowed
