RE: Speed Campaign in Full Effect for the Month of May in the Municipality of Callander

Callander, Ontario — The Municipality of Callander recognizes May as a reminder for drivers to “Take it Slow” and ask the public to mind their speed while driving through Callander’s local streets.

“Spring is here and we’re all looking forward to the warmer weather”, said Robb Noon Mayor of Callander. “This means we’ll all want to get out and enjoy the parks and beaches. More cyclists are using the roads, and sidewalks are busier with folks walking and jogging. As we prepare for the summer season — and the many activities we have planned — we’re hoping everyone can play their part in minding their speed and to take it slow for Callander”.

Callander’s seasonal activities begin with Pitch In and Spring Clean Up this Saturday, FunFest on June 29th, and Sirens in the Park on August 17th. The Municipality expects large turnouts for these events.

The Take it Slow for Callander campaign, which was originally brought forward by Councillor Dell, will run for the month of May, with the Municipality sharing more “take it slow” reminders on their social media pages and selling lawn signs for $10 each. The signs are available at the Municipal Office at 280 Main Street North. There are four designs to choose from, reflecting some of the social media posts that will be posted throughout the month. We encourage everyone to take part in this initiative.

Speeding sensor signs have been located along our Main Street, and increased police presence is expected during this time.
