Fire Ban Lifted

Posted July 12, 2023

The fire ban has been lifted!

Please remember, we are in a nighttime-burning only time of year, and a burn permit is still required for ALL open air burning. To purchase one, visit https://mycallander.ca/en/municipal-services/fire-police-emergency-services/open-air-burning-permits.

As a reminder,

  • all open-air burning, including fires for cooking and warmth, require a burn permit.
  • a burn permit is also required for discharging consumer fireworks – refer to By-law 2012-1335 being a By-law to Regulate the Setting Off of Consumer Fireworks.
  • burn permits can be purchased online or at the municipal office.
  • daytime burning is not permitted.  Fires can be lit two hours prior to sunset and must be complete extinguished 2 hours after sunset.
  • while you have a fire burning a responsible person must be present, at all times, until the fire is completely extinguished.
  • please refer to By-law 2015-1446 being a By-law to Establish Open Air Burning Procedures for a complete list of all the regulations.
  • Please be fire safe!!!
