What is Neighbourhood Watch?
It is a partnership between the community and the local police services. This partnership is dedicated to the identification and resolution of crime, traffic and social order problems. The partnership shares in the responsibility as well as the effort in the resolution of the problems.
The goal is to improve the quality of life in the community.
How does it Work?
Through communication, consultation and representation, policing priorities in a community are established by the citizens. In effect, what is of concern to the community is of concern to the police. Community priorities become police priorities. These concerns are brought to the police by way of a Neighbourhood Watch Committee.
What is a Neighbourhood Watch Committee?
It is a group of community minded citizens who are interested in either improving or maintaining the quality of life in our community. We meet periodically to identify traffic, crime or social order problems in our community and bring these problems to the attention of the police. At the same time, the committee takes an active role in working with the police to resolve the problem. They DO NOT act as investigators or informants.
