Ontario Arts Council Logo The Ontario Arts Council offers more than 50 funding programs for Ontario-based artists and arts organizations, with funds from the Ontario government. Grants provide assistance for a specific activity, support for a period of time, or in the case of an organization for ongoing operations.

A selection of grants include:
  • Arts in Education Projects: This program is open to individual professional artists, artist collectives, registered not-for-profit arts organizations and non-arts community organizations in Ontario involved in arts education for early childhood development, young people, educators and/or adults of all ages. This program supports the creation and production of new work aimed at young people and projects that link artists and learners of all ages and provide artistic opportunities within and outside the educational institution setting.
  • Choirs and Vocal Groups: Their granting program provides operating support to not-for-profit, professional choral organizations as well as project support to choirs and vocal groups in Ontario to assist them to produce and present art and arts services to the public and to sustain a healthy arts community.
  • Northern Arts: The goal of this granting program is to fund arts activity in Northern Ontario by Northern artists and arts organizations. This program is open to artists, ad hoc groups, collectives, not-for-profit and arts organizations with head offices in Northern Ontario.
  • Visual Artists (Emerging, Mid-Career, and Established): This grant program assists Ontario-based professional visual artists to create and develop new work and to continue work in progress.

Canada Council For Arts Logo The Canada Council for the Arts is a national arm’s length agency created by the federal government in 1957 to “foster and promote the study and enjoyment of, and the production of works in, the arts.” To fulfil this mandate, the Canada Council provides grants and services to professional Canadian artists and arts organizations in: dance, inter-arts, media arts, music, theatre, visual arts, writing, and publishing.

A selection of grants include:
  • Grants for Dance Professionals: This program provides support and assistance to Canadian dance professionals (individuals) to pursue projects involving professional development, research, and apprenticeship or mentorship. Individual professionals can identify themselves as being in one of the following categories:
    • emerging
    • mid-career
    • established
    • Aboriginal, in any of the above categories.
  • Grants for Film and Video Artists: This program supports Canadian professional independent artists who use cinema and video as a mode of artistic expression, and provides them with opportunities for creative renewal and for production of independent film and video works. The program offers three components: Research/Creation Grants, Production Grants and Scriptwriting Grants. There are separate application guidelines and a form for each of the components.
  • Grants for Specialized Music Sound Recording: This program supports the recording of Canadian “specialized music” by Canadian artists, ensembles, bands, record companies and independent producers. Its purpose is to ensure that a diversity of artistically driven Canadian music is produced and is available to the public.
  • Theatre Production Project Grants for Emerging Artists: The objective of the Theatre Production Project Grant Program for emerging artists is to provide assistance to professional non-profit theatre organizations, and ad hoc groups of professional theatre artists for the development and/or production of theatre.

NOHFC Logo Northern Energy Program: The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) is proud to partner with northern businesses and non-profit organizations to pursue innovative solutions to renewable energy generation and conservation. By enabling northerners to manage and reduce the costs of energy today, the NOHFC is positioning the North for a brighter tomorrow.

The NOHFC’s Northern Energy Program has four distinct elements:
  • Renewable Energy Planning
  • Renewable Energy Capital Cost-Differential Assistance
  • New Internal Energy Generation Projects
  • Energy Conservation Pilot Projects
Power Savings Blitz Logo Power Savings Blitz Program: The Power Savings Blitz program offers up to $1,000 in FREE energy efficient retrofits for the small commercial sector.

By participating in the Power Savings Blitz program, your company could be eligible for a series of lighting upgrades worth between $300 and $1,000. For customers with electric water heaters, additional retrofit options exist.

Through this program, the NOHFC provides wage subsidies to help northern employers invest in our young workforce.
