Canada-Ontario Business Service (COBSC)

The Canada-Ontario Business Service Centre (COBSC) provides access to accurate, timely and relevant information on federal and provincial business-related programs, services and regulations. The COBSC is jointly managed by Industry Canada and the Ontario Ministry of Government Services.

In addition to their databases, the COBSC has also helped develop a number of guides, services and Internet-based tools for businesses, a sampling of which follows:

  • Interactive Business Planner (IBP): a tool that can assist with the preparation of a 3-year business plan for a new or existing business. The IBP will assist in writing a business plan, providing a plan format and preparing financial projections.
  • Online Small Business Workshop (OSBW): a step-by-step program designed to help develop your business idea, start a new venture, or improve an existing business.

The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF)

The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) is a national charity dedicated to growing our nation's economy one young entrepreneur at a time. They look at character not collateral, when providing youth age 18-34 with pre-launch coaching, business resources, start-up financing and mentoring to help young entrepreneurs launch and sustain a successful business.

Founded in 1996, CYBF has invested to date in more than 2,900 young entrepreneurs whose businesses have generated more than $320 million in sales revenue, $72 million in tax revenue, $35 million in export revenue and created more than 15,000 new jobs. Through CYBF's national network of community partners, they are able to deliver their program coast to coast with more than 2,600 volunteers across Canada.

The Business Centre

The Business Centre

The Business Centre is a network of offices that serve Ontario's small business community. Each office covers a specific region where they offer their services free of charge. Each location is equipped to assist entrepreneurs with business start-up. The Business Centre also works with enterprises that have been in existence for less than 5 years.

Some of the services offered by The Business Centre include:

The Business Centre Nipissing Parry Sound Inc. supports all municipalities in both the Nipissing and Parry Sound Districts. The Business Centre is administered by an experienced team of Small Business Advisors in partnership with the City of North Bay, The Mayor's Office of Economic Development, the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines, The Ministry of Small Business and Consumer Services, and various community partners.
