Candidates Survey Results

As promised, the Library is posting the results from the Library Survey handed out to candidates running for the Municipality of Callander Council. Five of the eight surveys handed out at the Meet the Candidates Night on September 17, 2018 have been returned to the Library. The aggregated results can be found in the document below.

Ontario Public Library Week

Join us from October 15th-20th for a variety of fun events at the library!

We will have a variety of events (linked below) as well as two ongoing events throughout the week.
Food for Fines: Donate a non-perishable food item and we will waive the overdue fines from your library account. Does not extend to lost/damaged items. Food items will be donated to the Callander Food Bank.
Scavenger Hunt: There will be an ongoing scavenger hunt in the library throughout the week. All ages.

Monday: Crochet Night: Learn to Crochet a little monster with Sara! All materials will be provided. Participants MUST register in advance. Ages 15+. See more.

Tuesday: Open House & Book Exchange: Open House will run from 3:30pm-7:00pm. Book Exchange will run from 5:00pm-7:00pm. Join us to explore the library, chat and have cake during our Library Open House! Bring a book, leave with a new book! Bring a book or two to participate in our Book Exchange, chat about newly discovered books over beverages and cake! All ages welcome. See more.

Wednesday: Club Awesome will be having some trivia fun at the Library afterschool. Ages 9-13. Snack provided.

Thursday: Raising Readers with Special Guest: Martha Attema, author of The Magical Midnight Rescue, is doing a special reading and craft. Ages 2-9.

National Award-Winning Library – TWICE!

On Tuesday, May 29th, we were presented with an award from the Canadian Federation of University Women. The award was the CFUW National Library Award, in the amount of $4000, to go towards children’s programming at the library.

And if that wasn’t exciting enough…

On May 31st, Melissa accepted the first place national TD Summer Reading Club Award for 2017, in Winnipeg! This award was for our unique library and robotics camp run with FIRST Team 1305 Robotics last summer. First Prize also comes with $10 000 for our library! A huge thank you to our 2017 summer students, this wouldn’t have been possible without you! Kara McDonell, Angele Beaulne, and Jessica Kelso!
